The legal bit

Terms

Mostly a formality, though the first two sections are the ones that actually matter.

What this site is

This is a personal website that exists to compare itself, at length and in a large serif typeface, to a website built by a member of my family. It is a joke. It is meant warmly.

The measurements here are real: the dependency count, the request count, the number of lines of JavaScript, the font axes, the page weights. They were taken from the actual files of both sites and you are welcome to check them.

The awards, scores, indexes and quoted reactions are invented for comedic effect. There is no judging panel. Nobody has given this website a prize. The “Overkill Index” is not a real instrument, my grandmother has not filed a formal review, and the vote for Best Website In This Family was held by one person.

About the comparison

The other website referred to throughout belongs to a real, working business. Nothing here is intended as disparagement of that business, its services, or the person who built the site. The site is repeatedly and sincerely described as good, because it is.

No claim on this page should be read as a statement of fact about the quality of any real company. If you are here looking for storage, go to his site. It has the prices on it, which this one does not.

Use of the site

Provided as-is, for free, with no warranty of any kind. It may be offline, broken, or mid-edit at any moment. Don’t do anything illegal with it and don’t try to break it — though given that the entire source is readable, breaking it would not require much detective work.

Content and code

The written content belongs to its author. The HTML, CSS and JavaScript are welcome to be read, learned from and borrowed — the whole reason for building it without a framework was that you can open the file and see how it works. View source. That is what it is for.
